Tattoo Design
Josh, one of my old client who became good a friend few years ago, asked me to design a tattoo for him. Although, it was an exciting project, but I did get a bit nervous as he's quite particular about his likes and dislikes...(which btw is an excellent quality to have in a client!)
To him the design was not just a pretty pattern he planned to beautify his body with, it was a symbol of love, hope, direction, strength and determination to achieve his goals and dreams, of a peaceful life ahead.
His main requirement was that he wanted the shape to be inspired by the traditional compass, and have the four directional pointers with the 'OM' in the center to keep him grounded, as he heads towards his dreams.
After a few sketches, below is the journey of how the design evolved, and the last picture is by himself, showing how it looks in reality. I did my best to work according to his requirements, ans also staying true to my own design sense.
Started working by having the 'OM' sign in the center.
Decided to just play around and let the grid guide me and evolve the design.
Wanted to experiment with Arabic calligraphy, marking the four points, North, South, East and West, in the arabic language.
Just kept doodling, till I reached this.
So very happy with what evolved...hope he likes it too !
